I am currently not updating my website as I am spending most of my time working on projects for Redmon Group Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia. Additionally, I plan on continue writing blog posts and possibly some articles on Web Development if I can find time.
Steven Wittens redesigns Acko.net with some awesome 3d and parallax effects, based on three.js and a custom CSS3 3d renderer.
This is why webkit is the best browser out there.

So it was five years ago today, Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone. He made a bold statement by saying that it was 5 years ahead of any other phone out there. Well it’s 5 years later and was Steve right?
Before, I begin I have to admit that I am biased towards Apple, but I encourage you to put your feelings aside and think about what was announced on this day, 5 years ago.
Obviously Android is very very popular now, but short of Android are there any other phones out there that truly rival the iPhone? Think about what has happened in the last couple of years since Android started rising in popularity and usage. Nokia has decided to drop its Symbian operating system and has decided to adopt Windows Mobile 7, which is still trying to gain some traction in the market. Research in Motion’s BlackBerry OS phones continue to show decline in the market and HP (prev. Palm) webOS phones are almost nonexistent now.
That just really leaves Apple’s iOS (prev. iPhone OS) and Google’s Android operating system. Despite the patent disputes and accusations of stealing ideas from both Apple, Google, HTC, etc.. Apple’s iPhone really set the benchmark for Android (and other mobile operating systems.) So can we say Steve was right? I think he had a great head start and there are aspects of Android that still have not caught up for sure. To be fair there are aspects of iOS that have taken a long time to implement and others that are still lacking.
It’s really interesting to see how far phones have come in 5 years and how it has changed the entire landscape of mobile devices and the race to develop the next best thing for a mobile device.

I am really excited to hear about everyone posting in their status messages and twitter pages they have picked up or pre-ordered an iPhone 4S. I am equally amazed at some of my friends who were self-proclaimed “android and blackberry users for life” and now have bought an iPhone.
It really shows the power of such a great product line that so many people are wanting these devices now. Sure, they are trendy and are well-designed but they now have a resonance with people that has not been seen for a long time.
I can’t wait to get more FaceTime calls and iMessages from friends who never knew what I was talking about when I said “Hey, we should FaceTime some time.”
Keep it going Apple, I know Steve is happy and proclaiming this is “insanely great!”
